Latham Williams

Latham Williams is the co-founder and principal of HeadLights, LLC, where he is engaged in career coaching, recruiting, and board and senior leadership assessment and development. He is a consultant to Epic Business Strategies and the Exeter Group and is the founding member of The Latham Williams Law Group, LLC, where he is involved in corporate transactions, crisis management, and business disputes. He served over eleven years as the chief legal officer and corporate secretary at Hudson Global, Inc., a worldwide publicly-traded talent solutions company. He was a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors, as well as the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals, and was on the Chief Legal Officers’ Section of the Conference Board.
A guest lecturer at the University of California-Berkeley (Haas Business School), Stanford Law School, the American Medical Association, and the American Dental Association, he chaired the Board of Trustees of Fielding Graduate University and became a lifetime member of the Law Board of the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. He served on the Board of Trustees of the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago Foundation, and the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.
A past governor of the Illinois State Bar Association and past president and director of the Minority Legal Education Resources, Inc., Mr. Williams holds a bachelor’s in psychology with honors from Macalester College, a master’s in health services management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a JD from the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.

Carla Carstens is a former BP/Amoco Corporation executive with more than 30 years of strategic and operational planning experience. After leaving BP, she consulted with private and public firms and was a principal in Tatum LLC’s Performance Improvement Practice. Her Amoco positions included BP/Amoco merger integration manager for Retail Gasoline, Refining and Supply Operations, and vice president strategic planning and director of supply chain optimization for Amoco Oil Company.
Ms. Carstens also served as secretary to Amoco Oil’s Executive Management Committee, business development manager for Amoco Marine Transport Company, and vice president of Amoco Venture Capital Company. Key accomplishments include developing the operating governance framework to merge BP and Amoco’s retail gasoline, refining, and supply businesses. A member of the executive team that led to Amoco Oil becoming an industry leader, she oversaw the development of business strategies and performance monitoring using such tools as Organization Capability Assessments and Balance Scorecard. She earned her bachelor’s in economics and MBA at Washington University in St. Louis.

Pamela Zarkowski
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
University of Detroit Mercy
PAMELA ZARKOWSKI is the provost and vice president for academic affairs at the University of Detroit Mercy (UDM). In this combined executive position, she is the chief academic officer of the university and is responsible for the administration of all academic departments and programs.
A member of the UDM President’s Cabinet, Ms. Zarkowski has been a faculty member in the university’s School of Dentistry since 1978, where she attained the rank of professor in 1994. She served as the executive associate dean of UDM’s School of Dentistry from 2002 to 2007 and was appointed interim vice president of academic affairs in 2007. She was then appointed as vice president of academic affairs in 2008. She is published in the areas of community oral health and legal and ethical issues for dental professionals

Kyle Suddarth

KYLE SUDDARTH is a vice president with BMO Harris Bank, where his expertise includes a wide range of private, not-for-profit sectors, including healthcare, education, and cultural institutions. He enjoys helping clients with various tax-exempt financing structures and uses his deep knowledge of traditional commercial banking products to provide financial solutions.
Previously, he was a member of the bank’s middle market commercial and corporate banking teams, where his clients included both publicly and privately held corporations and has been with BMO Harris Bank for more than ten years. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance from the University of Tampa. Mr. Suddarth holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a CFA Society of Chicago member.

Therese Scanlan

Mauricio Pineda
MAURICIO PINEDA serves as the president of the Oak Point University Alumni Association. He completed his BSN at Oak Point University (Resurrection University chapter) in the fall of 2015, graduating cum laude, and was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. He completed a nurse residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he specialized in emergency services. As a nurse resident, he underwent training in acute trauma care as well as prehospital ground and air transportation. He also was on the hospital’s Committee of Clinical Excellence and worked with the Department of Emergency Medicine Research.
Mr. Pineda then transitioned to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he sat on a committee to develop a nurse residency program. A certified emergency communications registered nurse, he practices as an emergency and trauma nurse at the University of Chicago Medicine. In his free time, he volunteers at Community Health Clinic, the second largest free clinic in the country, where he advocates for the underserved, uninsured/underinsured, and undocumented Latino communities. He received his master in family nurse practitioner, focusing on emergency medicine, from the Loyola University Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing in 2022.

Maryann Barnes
Maryann Barnes is certified in holistic nursing. She has also held certifications in nursing administration and perioperative nursing. Previously, she worked for St. John Providence Health in Detroit, part of Ascension Health, and the Detroit Medical Center. She holds a BSN from from Michigan State University with a BSN and a master’s in healthcare administration from the University of Detroit Mercy.

Karena Brown
Karena Brown is an interim manager of an inpatient general medicine unit at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. In addition to her clinical RN role, she serves as the Chair of the Nursing Quality and Patient Safety Subcommittee. She is a member of both the Nursing Professional Practice Committee and the Magnet Committee. She is also a Medicine Department Shared Leadership member and certified medical-surgical nurse. She graduated from Oak Point University and holds a bachelor’s in biomedical sciences from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama.

J. Marc Golan
Mr. Golan is a CPA. He oversees a Total Net Revenues of approximately $1B. His regional direct line reports include VP Finance, Budget, Health Information Management, Patient Access, Managed Care, Productivity, Business Development, Decision Support, Materials Management, ACO and ABO Finance. He has held various financial positions throughout his career, predominately within healthcare and also had extensive experience in performing financial audits and assisting with mergers, acquisitions, refinancing across industries. Mr. Golan is a member of the Oak Point Finance Committee.

Sandy Matthews
Sandy Matthews has more than 20 years of experience in marketing, communications, and development, with a focus on advocating for family, children, youth, and education. Working at Illinois Action for Children since 2007, she is responsible for organizational relationship development, strategic partnerships, generating revenue through foundations and corporate donors, and corporate advisory board development. Previously, as chief of staff to the assistant secretary for civil rights in the U.S. Department of Education, she oversaw the office of the assistant secretary, including program planning, communications messaging, constituent outreach, and daily operations.
From 1998 to 2006, Ms. Matthews was a senior program consultant for the Michael and Juanita Jordan Endowment Fund, overseeing day-to-day operations and raising capital to support the fund’s commitment to children, families, and education. Prior to that, she was director of public affairs for the office of the chancellor and the seven City Colleges of Chicago. In that capacity, she successfully positioned City Colleges of Chicago as a national model for urban post-secondary education. A graduate of North Central College with a bachelor’s in English and French, she earned her MJ degree in child and family law from Loyola Law School in Chicago.

Felicia S. Wilhelm
Felicia S. Wilhelm is the founder and CEO of Prairie States Enterprises, Inc., a Chicago-based health benefits administration firm. She possesses a unique combination of clinical expertise and entrepreneurial spirit and has grown Prairie States into a technologically advanced health management company. Prairie States administers group health plans with employees from coast to coast, including Fortune 500 companies, and collaborates with the Mayo Clinic. An experienced healthcare consultant, she has had great success working with employers to implement innovative, cost-saving healthcare solutions. She received her nursing degree from Vanderbilt University and worked in the neurosurgical unit at Vanderbilt Hospital. Subsequently, she served as a nurse practitioner in adult assessment in the Emergency Department at Rush Presbyterian St Luke Hospital in Chicago. She is a member of the Health Committee for The Illinois States Chamber of Commerce and is active in the Self-Insurance Institute of America, Inc. and the Society of Professional Benefit Administrators.
