June 18, 2015 // Oak Point University

Oak Point and the Illinois Organization of Nurse Leaders (IONL) recently announced a partnership that will prepare nurses for leadership through a master’s degree in Nursing in Health Systems Leadership. The program will be offered in an executive format, with classes meeting one weekend, every three weeks at the Oak Point main campus in Wicker Park. Supplemental coursework will be completed on-line with degree completion in twenty months. The degree will prepare candidates for nursing leadership positions within the ever changing healthcare environment. Oak Point University is believed to be the first university in Illinois offering a master’s degree for nurse leaders in executive format.

The curriculum for the program will include topics such as human resource management, business communication, finance and economics, healthcare delivery systems, and advanced leadership. The courses will be taught by experts in the field as well as University faculty. The inaugural class will begin in January 2016.

Through the partnership, IONL members will receive a 10% tuition discount in the program. Interested candidates who are not current members of IONL may join the organization prior to enrollment to receive the discounted rate. Proof of membership is to be provided when applying to Oak Point for the program.

Each student enrolled in the program will receive a Microsoft Surface 3 Tablet, to provide you with the technology you need for the online component of the program. Learn more about the MSN in Health Systems Leadership program.
