On Friday, August 5th, 11 pediatric nursing students and faculty members participated in the 15th Annual WGN Back-to-School Kids Fair at the WGN-TV Studios. This year Oak Point students taught the kids how to identify if someone is having a hard time breathing and demonstrated the effects of asthma by allowing the kids to listen to the Sim Kid’s wheezing lung sounds. By having the kids breathe through straws and holding their noses closed, our students were able to show just how difficult the symptoms of asthma can be. Oak Point IPE Simulation Center Director, Anne Costello, was interviewed live on the WGN Morning News. Watch the full video clip here. This is the second year that Oak Point has participated in the fair, and the second year that Oak Point was interviewed live on the news!
