Oak Point University Nursing faculty member Maria Walker, MSN, APN, FNP-BC was invited to present her research abstract “Parents’ Perception of the HPV Vaccination for their Adolescent Children” at the 25th International Nursing Research Congress in Hong Kong, July 24-28, 2014.

“I became more interested in the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) when a vaccine was approved and became available for use in adolescent boys,” said Walker. “I was curious as to what parents thought about the vaccines and wanted to know what led to their support, or lack of support for vaccinating their children. At this prestigious conference, more than 1000 attendees will collaborate on improving global health, as well as view and hear poster and oral presentations on topics regarding research in nursing and evidence-based practice.
Walker attended Olivet Nazarene University and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, the Honor Society of Nursing.
