My Family’s Tragedy Was My Calling Back to Nursing
A few months after that, my oldest brother, who was 33 at the time, felt sick one day, we took him to the hospital. He was diagnosed with leukemia, and he, unfortunately, died a week later. That experience of my brother and everything on my family went through, I know what it’s like to be on the other side during that whole week of being in the hospital. I realized that my biggest regret in life was not sticking with nursing, no matter how hard it was. I became a nurse to be there for the patients. I became a nurse to help them when they can’t help themselves and to be a positive light during someone’s worst time of their life.
I Hope My Story Inspires Others
Getting this award for being a badass nurse has been very humbling. I’m really excited to share my story and to inspire people that want to be nurses to go into the field. Anybody that you say is a badass can basically do anything, and what’s more badass than doing anything that puts someone else before themselves.
My name is Mary Hansen Davis, and I’m a badass nurse.
