Alumni Volunteer at Community Health Fair
As back-to-school season is in full swing, Oak Point University staff and alumni gathered to participate in the Community Health Fair on August 17th. The Fair was located just steps from the Oak Point campus at the Monsignor Thiele Center, and included several activities for children and adults. Adults were able to take advantage of several free screenings, such as blood-pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes; while kids lined up for elaborate balloon sculptures and face painting. Back-to-school physicals were also made available.
The event was sponsored by Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, Saint Aloysius Parish, and Josephinum Academy. John Pechacek, a senior admissions counselor at Oak Point, set up an information table to pass out flyers about the University. Oak Point alumni contributed to the event by offering blood pressure screenings to adults. “The Community Health Fair was a great opportunity for our talented alumni to volunteer and give back to our local community,” said Esther Wallen, Assistant Director of Career Services and Alumni Relations.
