VP of Academic Affairs, Douglas Geiger, PhD
Oak Point University announced the appointment of Douglas Geiger, PhD to the position of Vice President of Academic Affairs of the University.
Dr. Geiger assumed the role as Vice President of Academic Affairs in October and will be responsible for maintaining the overall academic integrity of the University. He will lead the University in its development and maintenance of program standards to ensure academic excellence, while supporting the faculty, academic staff and student learning experiences. In this role, he will ensure quality, inclusivity, fiscal solvency of academic programs and superior stake-holder experience throughout academic affairs.
Dr. Douglas Geiger has worked as a senior administrator in higher education for the past 25 years. For the past 10 years, he has served in senior leadership roles (VP, AVP, or Dean level) at several institutions including The University of Chicago, St. John’s University, Manhattanville College, and Illinois Institute of Technology. In these roles, Dr. Geiger has provided leadership to the assessment and improvement of the academic experience. In addition, he has provided leadership roles to successful student retention and success programs. Doug has also served as an adjunct faculty member in higher education administration graduate programs at Loyola University Chicago and Stony Brook University (NY). He has also served as a higher education consultant for both Ruffalo Noel-Levitz and Coakley and Colleagues. He is currently serving on the board of directors for Youth Outreach Services (YOS) in Chicago for a second term. He had previously served as a board member from 2008-2010.
Doug holds a PhD from Loyola University Chicago and an MA from Michigan State University (both in higher education administration). He holds a BA in French and Mass Communications from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
