CARLA CARSTENS is a former BP/Amoco Corporation executive with more than 30 years of strategic and operational planning experience. After leaving BP, she consulted with private and public firms and was a principal in Tatum LLC’s Performance Improvement Practice. Her Amoco positions included BP/Amoco merger integration manager for Retail Gasoline, Refining and Supply Operations, and vice president strategic planning and director of supply chain optimization for Amoco Oil Company.
Ms. Carstens also served as secretary to Amoco Oil’s Executive Management Committee, business development manager for Amoco Marine Transport Company, and vice president of Amoco Venture Capital Company. Key accomplishments include developing the operating governance framework to merge BP and Amoco’s retail gasoline, refining, and supply businesses. A member of the executive team that led to Amoco Oil becoming an industry leader, she oversaw the development of business strategies and performance monitoring using such tools as Organization Capability Assessments and Balance Scorecard. She earned her bachelor’s in economics and MBA at Washington University in St. Louis.
